More than 8 million people are on the brink of famine in Afghanistan. Drought, conflict and the coronavirus pandemic are causing a catastrophic rise in hunger.
Children are dying today, and a million more under the age of five may die in the next three months. If we don’t act now, many lives could be lost. More than 22 million people could go hungry as the freezing winter sets in, with children amongst those most vulnerable. We’re also concerned about the impact this crisis will have on the safety of women and girls.
Your support will help the Disasters Emergency CommitteeDEC provide emergency food and nutrition support for children, support healthcare facilities and work to ensure temporary shelters are fit for winter. Other priorities include supplying clean drinking water and protecting women and girls.
